Last year I engineered some tracks for the new Foxes record, for production duo My Riot (Tim Bran and Roy Kerr). It was an incredible experience to work with Lou and the band. They’re beyond talented and it’s great to be able to link to the finished record. My favourite track is Scar – check it out
I’ve banged on a lot about this. At this point, suffice to say that it’s been a career highlight to engineer this for the band, and producers Tim Bran and Roy Kerr. Regardless of my involvement it is and will remain one of my favourite records. Have a listen below:
The video for the new Walking On Cars single, Speeding Cars is out. It’d be an understatement to say that I love this band, and Speeding Cars is, for me, really the track that sums them up. If you asked me to play one track that, in my opinion, best represents their music, it would be this one. The beautiful film was shot in Dingle, near where the band live. The characters other than the band members are portrayed by local people. When you watch it, you get a really tangible sense of where this music comes from.
Higher Than Here has gone into the UK charts at No7! Thoroughly well-deserved for a great artist. Releases can be nerve-wracking for someone who’s had huge successes in the past – If the record is great that’s just expected, and if not you take a hammering which an unknown would be able to quietly avoid. Congratulations to James, and to Tim and Roy who produced the four tracks I was involved in engineering.
James Morrison’s new record, Higher Than Here is out today. I engineered some of the material for this record. It was amazing to work on and well worth checking out.
It was a massive career highlight for me to engineer this awesome record, available for pre-order now on iTunes – You get ‘Speeding Cars’ the next single straight away, which is perhaps my favourite track on a record full of favourites. It’s well worth checking out – I love this band.
The video for Better Love is out today. It’s awesome, check it out
This awesome track, which I was privileged to engineer for producers Tim Bran and Roy Kerr, is out today. It was amazing to work with Lou and the band – They’re true professionals. Sometimes people assume that success is down to luck, or looks or just being in the right place at the right time. Yes, those factors sometimes open the right doors, but having had the chance to work with an act like this, it doesn’t take long to notice how shockingly talented they all are. The track was co-written with Dan from Bastille and features his distinctive vocals in the chorus. Usual production masterclass from Tim and Roy. Better love is available on iTunes and Spotify

Here Lies An Ocean is out today, and available on iTunes and Spotify
There will be a proper video to follow, in the meantime…
A few months ago, Ryan, who I worked with when he was fronting Beautiful Country, came to me with a bunch of basically folk songs. Originally the idea was to do some rough and ready live recordings of these tracks with a view to some YouTube videos etc. But we felt that really we should take one or two and explore a more pop-oriented approach than he was used to. We’re both really proud of the way this approach has developed. It has been a question of using a lot more programming and a bigger production, but without losing the folky core of a guy with a guitar. The first track, Here Lies An Ocean is out on the 28th. Links to follow.
